Aluminated is a new mod by Key Bored Industries (AKA Qwertygiy) that adds a new ore and small tech-limb to Minecraft.
Nearly everything this mod adds can be seen in this screenshot. Let’s start at the beginning, with Bauxite (that orangey ore in the lower right).
Bauxite is a reddish aluminum ore found in the top layers of the world, around 75 – 55. It’s pretty common and shouldn’t be too hard to find. However, it requires an iron pickaxe to mine. It will drop 5 to 10 Bauxite Chunks.
Bauxite Chunks can be thrown as projectiles. They will inflict several hearts of damage to any mob they hit; however, most of the time the rock will smash apart and you won’t be able to get your chunk back.
Bauxite Cobblestone can be used as a building material. It is crafted out of 9 Bauxite Chunks. It can also be smelted back into Bauxite.
Aluminum Blobs are created by smelting Bauxite Chunks. They have no purpose except to be crafted into Piles of Aluminum. It takes 6 blobs to make a pile.
Aluminum Ingots are created by fusing a pile of aluminum together by smelting it. Unlike most other ingots, they cannot make normal tools. However, by crafting a stick next to two ingots (like the recipe for a sword turned 90 degrees to the left) you can get a Culinary Knife. Knives can cut cake and bread into slices, and can also be used to defend yourself in a pinch.
Aluminum Blocks, like other metal blocks, are crafted with 9 Aluminum Ingots.
Sheets of Aluminum are crafted with 4 Aluminum Ingots, and act like glass panes or iron bars.
Aluminum Foil can be crafted from a sheet of aluminum. It’s too thin to place, but can be used to wrap 2 of almost any food, including steak, apples, cookies, cake slices you’ve made with your Culinary Knife, raw chicken… This allows you to carry twice as much food in your inventory in the same amount of space. It also allows you to cook foods with half as much fuel — simply wrap two raw foods together, put them in a furnace, cook, and then unwrap!
Wads of Aluminum Foil can be crafted from a sheet of Aluminum Foil or by unwrapping wrapped food. They can be smelted back into Aluminum Blobs, or they can be thrown to deal half a heart of damage. They also have one more purpose, as ammunition for arguably the best part of the mod…
The Handheld Cannon!
To use the cannon, simply fill your inventory with snowballs or foil wads, right-click to load, and right-click again to fire.
