Creating your own mod pack for quick mod installs:
So let’s say you are installing a mod that requires you to add the mod files into the minecraft.jar, and also needs you to add some files into the mods folder.
First we are going to download the mod from the mod thread.
Now we know some of the files need to go to the minecraft.jar file. So we are going to create a new folder called “class” on your desktop, make sure that the folder is named “class” without any caps etc.. same as I have it in the quotations. We are also going to make a folder for the mods files because our mod needs us to add the zip into the mods folder, so we are going to create a folder called “mods”. That’s all the folders we will create for this particular mod, if a mod requires you to place mod files into separate folders then you can checkout the list down below for more info and the folder naming convention.
Now open the mod you downloaded and move the files that need to go into minecraft.jar into the folder we just created called the “class” folder. So any file that needs to go into the minecraft.jar goes into the class folder.
Do the same for the files that need to go to the mods folder, move them into the folder we just created called “mods”.
Now take the two folders we created the “class” & “mods” folders and zip them. You can name the zip whatever just make sure not rar them zip only.
That’s all! You can distribute your modpack with your friends and they can use the Mod Tools to install the mod pack for them without ever touching the .minecraft folder them self.
Now that we have created the mod pack all you need to do is run Mod Tools and click “Install Mod” select the zip you just created and the mod will get installed in seconds.
For mod files that need to go to minecraft.jar –> name folders –> ‘class’ or ‘jar’ or ‘minecraft.jar’
For mod files that need to go to mods folder –> name folders –> ‘mod’ or ‘mods’
For mod files that need to go to resources folder –> name folders –> ‘resource’ or ‘resources’
For mod files that need to go to minecraft folder –> name folders –> ‘minecraft’ or ‘.minecraft’
For mod files that need to go to bin folder –> name folders –> ‘bin’
For mod files that need to go to config folder –> name folders –> ‘config’
For save files that need to go to save folder –> name folders –> ‘save’ or ‘saves’ or ‘world’
For texture files that need to go to texture folder –> name folders –> ‘texture’ or ‘textures’ or ‘texturepacks’
You can have as many files/folders in any of the above folders, once added just zip and name your mod. All that’s important is for files to be in either of the folders named above.
